WEB MATTERS
10x number of friens
100x more people know
1000x more people
Every idea represented
we assume we can get more info about anything
we blog
we media
global recommendation network
learning is no longer internalizing books
Osource
take for granted that when you speak, world will listen
Web is like michael jackson.. more you see, ore weird it gets
web conundru
what is web for?
What do we care about it? It's weird, it is familiar
What does web remind us of?... our attraction to web is proportinaly to the depth of our alienation
Ray K age of spiritual machine- says we can model brainstates by bits
no! Doesn't make sense
we think it makes sense because we are alienated
The right info at the right time? No, because you must make a decision about what input to consider
What does information look like on the web?
Forums for the chaotic home - smarter customers...
anoerexic
cult of precision
what is difference between atoms and bits? Atoms are imprecises and smudgy, bits are on and off... which means it is difficult to model ambiguity
Web is counter to precision
What's real is what's precise (we tend.say rocks, not doughnut hole)
we don't like dependence
we don't like grouping but individuals don't come first
relationships among humans aren't obvious, but on web, links are obvious.. in fact, web is a collection of links
Abundance of web is remarkable
Generosity of web is remarkable (every link is a little bit of selflessness)... web architecture is all about being involved with others therefore wbe reminds of ourelves
