… it’s best to just steamroll through, disregard the pieces as they fall off, and get to your final destination with trumpets blaring.

Every single day, I grin and bear it.  I can look myself in the mirror and know that I am putting WAY more than my fair share of positive energy in the world.  More than a lot of people I know – and it takes its toll – long, thankless hours, stress, pitiful salary that’s a sliver of a fraction of what I’m worth, and missed opportunities.

Once in a while.

Once in a while, I’m allowed to take back a little, right?  To stop being a pleaser for just one moment?  I’m allowed to make it go my way if there is an alignment in the universe that makes it fit?   I’m allowed to make it go my way if I’m confident the WORLD will be a better place for it, to boot?

Sometimes the reciprocation comes out of left field.  Sometimes, when you’ve thought you’ve covered your bases and made the fair, correct choices, someone tells you you’ve blown it and points out a loophole, in the haste, you’ve forgotten to fill.  In the grey area, there is no roadmap.

Today I give myself permission to say, “I don’t care.  It’s my turn.”

But just for a moment and just once in a while.
