- Description: 2026 · Ongoing. I'm building a journal app for iPhone because no journal I've used made reading back worth it.

**2026 · Ongoing.** I'm building a journal app for my own iPhone. I wrote the first line of code a week ago, and I write in it every day now.

**What it is.** Noonsight holds a journal, a life log and, later, my quantified-self numbers. You write, and it files the photo and the place with your words. It runs without a signal, and it stores your entry as you typed it, down to the byte.

**Why I'm building it.** I've written years of journals and read back little of it. The apps I've tried put their design into getting words in. I want reading back to earn its time, through a trip report or a weekly digest. I also want a writing screen calm enough that I open it without needing a reason.

**What I'm holding to.**

- **Your words stay yours.** Anything a machine adds lives in its own space, apart from what you wrote.
- **You can leave.** Entries export as plain text files and/or JSON.
- **Each journal sets its own privacy.** The most private ones stay on your phone.
- **You decide what AI reads.** Later, an assistant can read the entries you allow and no others.

**Status.** I use it every day for writing, photos and places, online or off. Next I'm building export and a weekly digest. Health stats and habits come after that.

**What it's revealing so far.** The things I want to log happen away from the screen: a walk, a meal, a conversation. So I keep cutting the time I spend on the phone down to a photo, a place and one line before I'm back in the day. Read-back pulls the other way, off the screen and into my hands. The version I most want to try is a trip typeset into a printed book I can pass across a table.
